How to Reduce Breakage in Ceramic Planter Shipping
Choose packing for the journey the planter will actually make. A wholesale pallet delivery and an individual courier parcel need different packing discussions.
Map the full delivery journey
A ceramic planter may travel on a pallet to a warehouse and later leave that warehouse as an individual parcel. Those are different handling stages. If only the first stage is discussed, the buyer may approve a sea-freight pack without addressing the courier journey that follows.
Our packing discussions start with how the customer plans to receive and distribute the product. Xiamen Green commonly coordinates pallet packing and normal carton packing for sea transportation. For mail-order or courier programs, we review additional protective packing such as EPE cushioning.
Give the supplier the full route: factory packing, export shipment, warehouse receiving, any repacking and final delivery. Identify where a pallet or master carton will be opened and who is responsible for preparing the next pack.
Compare the packing arrangements
We commonly review pallet packing as a way to use freight space efficiently and manage packing cost. The actual space and cost depend on the product dimensions, protection, loading arrangement and shipment. A pallet should not be assumed to save space in every configuration.

Review the packed product rather than the packing-material name alone. A pot, saucer and liner can form one selling unit but still need separate consideration inside the pack. Show the proposed arrangement when approving the packing sample.
Review material preferences with protection
Some buyers request alternatives to foam. We use honeycomb packaging in programs where the customer requests that approach. The next step is to specify the material requirement precisely and check the proposed construction against the distribution route.
“Environmentally friendly” is too broad to serve as an acceptance criterion. State the material restrictions or documented packaging requirements that matter to your program. Honeycomb should not automatically be described as certified, universally recyclable or equal in protection to another design without supporting evidence.
Changes intended to reduce packing volume or replace a material should be reviewed for their effect on protection, handling and the final product arrangement. They may also change the quoted packing basis.
Approve the packed product
Agree a packing review or test suited to the actual journey. ISTA's guidance emphasizes understanding distribution, handling and storage when selecting and interpreting package tests. It does not support choosing one test merely because the product is ceramic.
- Identify the exact product and accessory configuration.
- Record the inner protection, carton and pallet arrangement as applicable.
- Agree the relevant handling conditions, test method and acceptance criteria.
- Keep the observed result and any subsequent packing revision together.
- Confirm who approves changes before production packing proceeds.
